Rehoming a stray dog (Grand ridge)

I'm trying to rehome this male dog my neighbor passed away about 6 months ago and the dog pound caught all of the dogs except him and he's around 8 months to a year old he is skiddish of people and is just now getting comfortable with me so it would take him some time to warm up but once he does he's sweet as can be I really would rather rehome him rather than have animal control take him if possible
