Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lodge Manager to oversee all operations of our hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities lodge. This role requires a unique blend of hospitality management expertise, outdoor recreation knowledge, and strong leadership skills to deliver exceptional guest experiences in a remote lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
Oversee daily lodge operations including guest services, housekeeping, dining, and maintenance
Manage budgets, financial reporting, and cost control measures
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations
Maintain facility and equipment in excellent condition
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for procurement needs
Guest Experience
Ensure superior guest satisfaction from reservation through departure
Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and resolve concerns professionally
Create welcoming atmosphere that reflects the lodge's outdoor heritage
Develop and maintain relationships with repeat guests and referral sources
Outdoor Activities Coordination
Plan and oversee hunting, fishing, and recreational activity schedules
Coordinate with hunting and fishing guides to ensure safe, successful outings
Maintain hunting and fishing permits, licenses, and regulatory compliance
Manage equipment inventory including boats, firearms, fishing gear, and outdoor equipment
Stay current on wildlife regulations, seasonal patterns, and conservation practices
Staff Leadership
Recruit, train, and supervise lodge staff including guides, housekeeping, kitchen, and maintenance personnel
Create work schedules and manage staffing levels based on occupancy
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching
Foster positive team culture and resolve staff conflicts
Ensure all staff are properly trained in safety protocols and emergency procedures
Marketing & Sales
Work with marketing team to promote lodge packages and seasonal offerings
Build relationships with outfitters, travel agents, and corporate groups
Respond to booking inquiries and manage reservation system
Gather guest feedback and testimonials for promotional use
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Minimum 5 years experience in lodge, resort, or hotel management
Strong knowledge of hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation
Proven track record in staff management and guest services
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in property management systems and Microsoft Office
Valid driver's license; boating certification preferred
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
Hunting and fishing guide experience or certification
Knowledge of local wildlife, terrain, and seasonal patterns
Experience with remote or seasonal property operations
Food service management experience
Bilingual abilities
